November Newsletter

Welcome to November: All Saints, Thanksgiving, Fireworks, Remembrance… It’s also World Vegan month and you can celebrate National Sandwich Day on the 3rd. What’s not to like? Something for everyone.

My humble apologies for the lack of a newsletter in October. My only excuse is that I was juggling two deadlines - the publication of Last Act, and completing the second draft of Final Cut. Somehow, September disappeared into October without my noticing. The good news is that Last Act is out there and sales are going well. Thank you to everyone who has bought a copy or is reading it on Kindle Unlimited. I hope you’re enjoying it. For those of you waiting for the Audible version, you’ll be pleased to know that Scott Fleming has begun recording and it should be out before Christmas 🤞

Also, keep an eye out for the Last Act blogtour starting on 17 November. And while on the subject of reviews, if any of you early birds have already finished the book, a review on Amazon would be very much appreciated.

As for Final Cut - pause for small fanfare - I finished the first draft ahead of schedule, it’s gone through several rounds of edits and it’s now with Beta readers before more edits and the usual thorough treatment from my proof editor. Expect to see it on sale in February.

In other news, I had an unexpected approach from a publisher a few days ago, seeking a discussion about my Geldard series. Are my days as an indie publisher numbered? Watch this space…

Finally for this month, I am attending the Anglian Authors Book Fair in Sudbury on 23 November. I hope I may see some of you there. Signed copies of all my books will be available for purchase at a special Sudbury rate, and I’m chairing a panel discussion between several authors on where we get our inspiration. I’m also doing a few minutes talk/book reading, for which I was invited to bring an item relevant to my books. Given the agricultural links I considered and discarded various ideas including a can of pesticides (even empty, a bit clunky), sheep shears (probably an offensive weapon) and a pitchfork (ditto!). Still not sure what to take. Any suggestions?

See you in December, when the Newsletter will include a free short story.

All the best, Heather

PS, if you have pets, remember to keep them firework safe this next week or so. Be cautious how and when you let them outdoors, and if they’re nervous of bangs and flashes, indoors with the curtains drawn and music playing might be a good idea. If you know their stress levels get very high at this time of year, a chat with a vet might be in order.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable November.
