MURDER ON THE NORFOLK BROADS
BOOK 1

Please note, this book was previously published as Secret Places
Meet your new favourite detective, DI Greg Geldard. Originally with the Met, he transferred to rural Yorkshire where he never quite managed to fit in. His latest case takes him from the windswept moors to the deceptively calm waters of the Norfolk Broads. This is finally somewhere he wants to call home.
A human skeleton is unearthed in a forgotten World War 2 bunker on a remote Yorkshire farm. Detective Geldard welcomes the distraction. His wife is away on a solo trip to America, and he’s starting to tire of ready meals and wondering what she’s getting up to.
Then the forensics come back. This was no accident. It was murder.
The farmer insists she knows nothing about the body beneath her land. And Coombe Farm’s former occupants, Matthew and Rachel Wade, have vanished without trace.
Geldard follows the trail south to Norfolk, where Rachel was last seen.
Here, among winding rivers, empty marshland, and tight-lipped communities, people know how to disappear – and how to keep secrets buried.
This gripping detective mystery full of twists and turns is perfect for fans of Ann Cleeves, Elly Griffiths, Peter May, Matt Brolly and Joy Ellis.

Now Geldard has a double murder investigation on his hands. At home, things are no easier. His wife Isabelle is disappearing for hours on end, doesn’t answer her phone, and won’t tell him where she’s going.
He can’t deal with this right now — all eyes are on him, watching how his first case plays out.
Geldard isn’t just hunting a killer. There’s something rotten at the heart of Norfolk.

THE DETECTIVE
DI Greg Geldard is an outsider in more ways than one. When his latest case takes him to Norfolk, he’s finally found a place he can call home. Although impatient with paperwork and dismissive of inter-agency politics, he’s a natural leader, hardworking, insightful and above all, willing to listen. His only weak spot is his adored wife, Isabelle, who seems to value her touring career more than her husband.
THE SETTING
Norfolk, as Geldard often observes, seems to have more water than land. Bordered by vast, empty beaches, it is home to the unique environment of the Broads; a network of navigable rivers and man-made lakes which date from medieval times. This wetland landscape is known for its open skies, vast waterways, and diverse wildlife. Norfolk also has some of the richest farming land in the UK, growing everything from cereals to asparagus. But this idyllic environment, as Geldard knows to his cost, can hide dark secrets.
