June Newsletter

Hi All,

Another busy, but thoroughly enjoyable few weeks. I hope you’ve been having as much fun as I have.

Early in the month we went to see 'To Kill a Mockingbird Bird' at Norwich Theatre Royal. This is one of my favourite books and  notwithstanding the excellent reviews, I was nerved to be disappointed, as one often is when a much loved text is translated to theatre or screen. I needn’t have worried. This was an excellent performance, with superb acting from the whole ensemble and a script that cleverly kept the life and spirit of the original while translating the experience to the stage. If it comes to a theatre near you, don’t miss it.

A week or two later we were hosting a visit from relatives. The weather was kind to us and, one of our preferred local attractions being mysteriously closed, we paid a return visit to Thrigby Wildlife Gardens. It was enjoyed by all, and I particularly appreciated the

opportunity to revisit a place which inspired a much fictionalised location in a couple of the Geldard books. If you’ve been keeping up you’ll know which I mean. If you don’t know, you need to keep reading. 😄

May also saw the re-publication of Geldard Book 4 and the re-release of the first three books in the series as audio books.

In amongst all this, we had our garage roof replaced, which engendered a major sort-out of everything had accumulated there. The resulting pile of 'stuff' was plainly too large for a trip to the tip, and thinking that if we were going to have a skip we might as well make it worthwhile, we cleared out the loft and the garden shed as well. I now have a wonderful sense of well being as regards disposal of rubbish - and a bad back.

During the bank holiday weekend we took some time off for a visit to the amazing, beautiful, woodland gardens at Fairhaven - with the dogs - and also enjoyed a boat trip on the Bure. Don't be surprised if this location also features in a later book - fictionally of course. The photo at the top of this newsletter and the one below were both taken in the gardens.

Finally, believe it or not, I have also been making good progress on Book 12 and hit my target of 65k words by end May a day early. Yippee. I can take a few days off with a clear conscience, then back to work to finish the book.

Next month, I promise an interview with Chris Mathews. For now, enjoy your summer and see you next month.

All the best,

Heather
